Retail & Development Business Summit 2018: how it was (photo-report)
On December 6, the VI Annual Retail & Development Business Summit was held at the CEC Parkovy. What was discussed, what was talked about and what was came to at the event.
This year the RDBS main topic – the largest final event of the year in the Ukrainian retail and commercial real estate market – was “Women in Retail”. 28 speakers spoke at the event, representing various trade’ development and b2b segment spheres. All of them are recognized experts who are familiar with all the Ukrainian retail nuances: CEETRUS France Commercial and Marketing Director Laurent Bonne, SEC and BC RETROVILLE General Director Renata Yakubcheniene, RedHead Family Corporation Founder and CEO Vladislav Burda, Vse.Swої Author and Founder Anna Lukukina, Banda agency Co-owner and Creative Director Pavel Vrzhesch, Allo Head of the Board Dmitry Derevitsky, ZARINA Jewelry House Founder Natalya Kolodnitskaya (Netovkina), Budhouse group Commercial Director Maxim Gavryushin, and many others.
The event title partner was the VOVK clothing studios – No. 1 among the young Ukrainian clothing brands in growth rates terms and customer confidence. The event general partner was the Ukrainian IT-company SMART business – the consulting services Ukrainian market recognized leader in providing innovative solutions for effective business management.
The Retail & Development Business Summit brought together key players’ first persons in the retail and commercial real estate spheres, investors and financial organizations delegates, consultants and manufacturers. It brought together also guests from the near and far abroad – employees of companies such as H & M, Epicenter K, Megasport, ATB, LPP, CJF, Myastoria, Buffet reception, Tavriya V, Zoloty Vik, SOVA, VOVK, Yves Rocher Ukraine, Mickey, CGS, SC Globus, SEC Dream Town, SEC King Cross Leopolis, SEC FontanSKY, Arricano Real Estate, Multі Ukraine Ltd., UTG, SEC Equator and others.
Everyone was photographed near the brand-wall with the event logo, as well as the Retail & Development Business Summit 2018 partners and sponsors.
In total, the program included six thematic blocks. The first session was devoted directly to women in retail. The speakers discussed the success stories and the business-woman role in the modern domestic retail image shaping. VOVK Co-owner Tatyana Semenchenko, the MasterZOO zoo market Owner Polina Kosharnaya, Vse.Swої Author and Founder Anna Lukovkina and MIRA top recruting Managing Partner Miroslava Trandash took part in the panel discussion.
The RDBS-2018 session No. 2 was entirely devoted to the commercial real estate development trends. The moderator was Anna Koryagina, CEETRUS Ukraine Commercial Director. The speakers discussed, from her submission, Ukrainian SEC new concepts and unique formats, the most effective solutions to improve the project profitability, the e-commerce platforms impact on the future filling projects, as well as the SEC future ideal format.
Renata Yakubcheniene, SEC and BC RETROVILLE CEO, Alexander Fialka, Retail & Development Advisor Managing Partner, Katerina Vesna, JLL Ukraine Retail Space Department Manager, Natalia Kravets, Dragon Capital Investment Company Commercial Director, shared their expert opinions. The discussion was supported by three speakers, who also make separate presentations. CEETRUS France Commercial and Marketing Director Laurent Bonnet shared with the audience and colleagues a vision, what the future shopping centers and retail will be, taking into account the changes in consumption patterns. Budhouse group Commercial Director Maxim Gavryushin made a presentation “Who buys in Ukrainian SC and how?”. Vladimir Kaltsev, companies group “Alexander” Founder and Constitutor, presenting the Zaporozhye SEC Alexander Plaza concept.
New speakers discussed the E-commerce & Digital innovations and trends after a short coffee break. CIO Ukrainian Retail Association Andrey Perevezii spoke with the presentation “E-commerce market under the microscope”. Kasta PR Director Natalia Logvin told right after him about the “agents of change” in the future shopping in Ukraine shaping.
Pavel Vrzhesch, Banda agency Co-owner and Creative Director, was third session another speaker. He talked about how creativity produces brand value through the cooperation between Banda agency and electronics retailer Comfy example. Marketing and E-commerce Director Antoshka Mykhailo Savelich and the SMART business Co-founder Cyril Rudnev, who also made presentations, joined them to discuss innovations in the e-commerce Ukrainian market overall. The first speaker topic sounded like “Enough to Trend or useful tips for any incomprehensible situation in e-commerce”. The second first speaker topic sounded like “Technological revolution in retail: how can a retail and retail company start making money using intelligent systems and data?”.
The next session, supporting the summit main topic, was held under the general title “Harmonious family business. Retail Synergy”. Invogue Fashion Group Founder and Co-owner Tatiana Burda and RedHead Family Corporation Founder and CEO, Family Business Network Ukraine Founder and President Vladislav Burda took the floor. Their presentation was devoted to the family harmony creation in in terms of the several businesses joint conduct. In particular, each of them shared the own project launch case and how later these different in essence businesses studied to coexist.
Gradually session No. 4 has passed into the next session. Natalya Kolodnitskaya (Netovkina), the ZARINA Jewelry House Founder, and Dmitry Derevitsky, the Allo Companies Group Head of the Board, joined the acting experts. They talked about which must to be an effective leader, and also shared their own business management philosophy. The session was moderated by Igor Stepanov, the Sicore Founder.
The final session was devoted to the rules of the game in the Ukrainian market, which were discussed by international retail delegates. Auchan Retail Ukraine General Director Victoria Lutsenko and Leroy Merlin Chief Financial Officer Grzegorz Vashkow spoke about the development strategy in the context of the Ukrainian retail market modern realities. The session was continued with a panel discussion moderated by Alexander Sopronenkov, the Deloitte Director, the Industrial Group on Retail / Wholesale Sales / Distribution Head. Also, the session was accompanied by presentations by two more experts who took part in the panel discussion. Mikhail Gorfunel, Director on Special Projects Glori Global Solutions, made a presentation “The implementing Advanced Glory Cashinfity Technologies experience in major retail agencies in Europe and the World.” Yuri Petrenko, Ader Haber Managing Partner, made a presentation “Window to Ukraine: what you need to know about the climate in the Ukrainian retail market”.
The Retail & Development Business Summit ended after six intensive sessions with an informal party, where guests of the event could rest after a busy day and relax in the friendly fun easy atmosphere. During the event, RDBS partners raffled off numerous prizes and gifts.

RDBExpo-2019 will be held in two formats: seminars, lectures, workshops with the leading retail and retail real estate specialists’ participation will be held besides to the exhozone three floors, in parallel with the exhibition in three conference-halls.
Cases from the most successful Ukrainian and foreign retail companies will be presented there, current problems and ways to solve them will be discussed, key trends and expectations for the coming years will be fixed.
The first persons – the owners, top-management and line managers – the retail and commercial real estate market leaders – will bring together for two days on the NSC Olympic three floors (55 Bolshaya Vasylkovskaya str., Kiev).
