R&DBS-2017: REPORT AND PHOTOS
On December 6, the anniversary, the fifth Retail & Development Business Summit: RDBS -2017 was held at the CEC Park. What it was discussed, what it was talked about and what it was came to the event.
This year, RDBS again broke the record – this time the event was attended by 450 top-managers and owners of companies in the retail and development spheres. More than 40 speakers represented at the Retail & Development Business Summit 2017, representing all directions of the trade, development and the b2b segment sphere. All of them are recognized experts who are not by hearsay familiar with all Ukrainian retail nuances, among them: Intertop CEO Sergey Badritdinov, modnaKasta CEO Andrey Logvin, Citrus CEO Vitaly Kuznetsov, Immochan Ukraine Commercial Director Anna Koryagina, CCC Ukraine co-owner Krzysztof Janota, Chairman of the Multiplex Supervisory Board Anton Pugach, Chief Financial Officer of METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine Andrey Tsvikh and others.
The event title partner was the VOVK clothing studio chain – No. 1 among young Ukrainian clothing brands in terms of growth and customer confidence. The event general partner was one of the largest jewelry chains in Ukraine: the Golden Age Company. The general technical partner was the company BT Ukraine.
In total, the program included seven thematic blocks that covered all aspects of the domestic retail life and work. The first session was devoted to the experience and plans for the international companies development in Ukraine. DC Ukraine Ltd, Watsons TM General Director Tomasz Wroblewski, LC Waikiki Regional Director Alexey Grishko, Director of International Expansion of Etos S.A. (DIVERSE brand owner) Dorota Jasinska, Director for Retail Banking Vodafone Retail Ukraine Alexander Krupka, Disies Ukraine Ltd, 5aSec International dry cieaning chain in Ukraine Director Mariusz Jurek took part in the panel discussion.
Two more speakers were the CCC brand in Ukraine representatives – the “TsTSTS Ukraine” Ltd co-owner Krzysztof Janota and country manager Maxim Kinash. They presented a presentation on the theme “New concept of CCC stores” and talked about the Ukrainian expansion of the Polish brand and the new concept of chain stores. The session was moderated by Eugenia Solomatina – Head of retail agency and consultary Cushman & Wakefiend Ukraine.
Session №2 RDBS-2017 was entirely devoted to the issues raised in the previous session: business in the period of transformation. The moderator was Managing partner Deloitte Ukraine Andrei Bulakh. The speakers discussed with his presentation the complexities that the business has had over the past several years and the attendant trends, as well as new ways for development.
The expert opinion was shared by the investment-banking department Dragon Capital Managing Director Mikhail Granchak, Chief Financial Officer of Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine Andrey Tsvikh, Intertop CEO Sergey Badritdinov and Head of the TM COSMO Supervisory Board Sergey Bartoshchuk. They shared successful business cases in modern Ukraine and told about the difficulties and peculiarities of work in our market.
After a short coffee-break, the speaker’s new members discussed the multi-channel and e-commerce topics, capable of becoming both a possible future of the classical retail and a likely threat to it. CardService Director Dmitry Bogodukhov made a presentation “Credit cards of stores and shopping centers: a new financial tool for increasing customer loyalty, traffic and sales growth”. The co-founder and the modnaKasta CEO Andrey Logvin took the floor. He said that now marketplaces around the world are experiencing an intensive growth period, outlined trends in international and Ukrainian e-commerce, and also gave several tips for offline- retail. In his opinion, large Ukrainian brands already now have to occupy a niche in the world’s largest marketplaces, as the future lies behind its.
Another speaker of the third session was the Head of Lem Systems Instana monitoring and management systems direction Sergey Loschakov. His report was devoted to methods of control for the effectiveness of modern applications and useful tools for retail top-management. The session was moderated by Irina Khold, Nova Poshta Marketing Director.
The next program session Summit – “Reconception in retail. Expectations and Real Results”– was presented by number of speakers, moderated by the founder and CEO IDNT, Nikolay Chumak. The presentation “AGROMAT Reconception. 9 months of the new Way” was made by the company owner representative Olga Taday and the Marketing department Director Olga Nosova. They shared with the audience AGROMAT rebranding case, which in less than a year renewed its own service, internal and external communications, and introduced a brand new visual identity, in the development of which FEDORIV became a creative partner.
The Ukrposhta Marketing Director Artur Zvintarny and partner and Michurin Agency Managing Director Dmitry Logginov also were told about the large-scale rebranding. The Ukrpost rebranding, which included an updated logo, the company slogans and a new approach to customer service, was the theme of their joint performance.
Zinovy Monastyrsky, Chairman of the GC Svitlotek Board of Directors, who delivered a presentation “The LED revolution – new opportunities for retailing” and Sergey Pashkovsky, Director for South and Eastern Europe / Central Asia 4Service Group were two more speakers of the session. Sergey Pashkovsky speech was devoted to new quality standards in technological communications between companies and customers or how to remain always in touch with your client.
The development market experts disassembled in the session № 5 what the trading centers are living today, within the framework of which new objects presentations were presented. John Hale, Director Central Eastern Europe Chapman Taylor (Prague), made a presentation of the renovated SEC River Mall, and Anna Koryagina, Immochan Ukraine Commercial Director made a presentation of SEC Rive Gauche. Both objects will begin work in 2018. The first of its will open in February of the coming year, and the second – in the2018 third quarter.
Roman Mihailenko, QubicaAMF Worldwide Director on development also spoke at this session with the theme of the SEC development trends and entertaining tenant-mix. Roman previously engaged in marketing management in the SEC Equator chain, Aqua Park DreamIsland and worked in the SEC DreamTown, as well as managing the largest in Ukraine family entertainment centers Turbina. Irina Kruppa, MFC Gulliver General Director was another speaker, who had worked for seven years in the Italian development company King Cross Group, which, among other things, is behind the construction of a shopping and entertainment complex in Lvov – King Cross Leopolis. The session was moderated by Alexander Vialka, Retail & Development Advisor (RDA) managing partner.
The sixth session “Where Ukrainian retail moves against the global trends backdrop”. The session was opened by a joint presentation of Viktoria Baryshnikova, TD Shiko Marketing Director and ideological inspirer and Yaroslav Filobok, BFC Contsruction Development manager “How to survive business in a highly competitive environment with examples of the BFC contsruction and TM Reima”. Experienced market players which are far not the first year to plow the Ukrainian retail market, as well as new names which shared their opinion about where Ukrainian retail is moving against the global trends backdrop, participated in the panel discussion. So, Citrus CEO Vitaly Kuznetsov, whose company is rightly considered the leader among the gadget stores and accessories chain in Ukraine was among the speakers. Designed for Fitness co-owner Anton Danilov, who founded the company in February 2015 and for 2.5 years of its existence, together with partners, was able to open more than 140 outlets in 24 countries, was another speaker.
Fashion-brand W8Less co-owner Daniil Shash, L.A.P.T.I. CEO Alexander Wernick, the jewelry brand Kochut. Handcrafted Jewelry co-founder Yuri Kochut and the jewelry company KAZKA Jewelry co-founder Alexander Gladko also took the floor in the panel discussion. The moderator of the session was the editor-in-chief Ukrainian Retail Association RAU.UA Ivan Zaitsev.
Final program session “Retail-guru. Recipes of longevity and key components of success” was held in a format of discussion. It was attended by the Swedish-Ukrainian project DYB | Develop Your Business Managing partner Igor Gut, Chairman of the Citrus Board of Directors Dmitry Rasskazov and Chairman of the Multiplex Holding Supervisory Board Anton Pugach. They shared with the hall recipes of companies longevity and key components of success. The Ukrzoloto, Street Food Group, New Bazar and Khlebarsky founder Alexei Rogozhinsky joined them already in the course of the discussion.
The Retail & Development Business Summit ended after seven intense sessions with an informal party where the guests of the event were able to rest from a busy day and relax in an unconstrained atmosphere of friendly fun. RDBS partners played numerous prizes and gifts during the event.
