Sportmaster acquired the Polish GO Sport Polska stores’ chain

On September 30, the deal on the acquisition of GO Sport Polska sports stores’ chain between Go Sport Group (France) and Sportmaster Operations (Singapore) was completed.

As the chain’s press service told RAU, Sportmaster Operations acquired 34 GO Sport stores with 37,000 sq. total sales square​​. The transaction’ value is not disclosed.

The group aims at dynamic international development, expanding and strengthening its presence in the markets of sports goods in Asia and Europe, according to director of Sportmaster Operations Dmitry Barkov. Therefore it is ready to invest in the Sportmaster chain’ development in Europe. “Poland is a market with a high consumer culture, a demanding and knowledgeable customer, and powerful competitors. But we look into the distance with optimism”, − he declared.

Mr. Favre, President of Go Sport Group, noted that “… the time has come for changes in the Polish market for sports and tourism products. We hope that sports and outdoor enthusiasts in Poland will only benefit from changes, see new approaches to the formation of collections, the entire assortment, and see updated stores. I wish success to the Sportmaster team in the future. ”

Sportmaster Operations (Singapore) manages businesses in all markets of presence: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China. It plans to enter the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. The parent company Sportmaster-Singapore has funded the deal for the Sportmaster chain to enter the Eastern European market. Janusz Gembarski has been appointed Business Development Director.

At first, Sportmaster will operate in Poland under the existing brand, but will later rename stores. The company intends to maintain the backbone of the current Go Sport Poland team and use its extensive expertise and competencies. It is planned to reformat the stores, make it more visible to the buyer in identifying categories, sports and brands’ terms. The stores will feature both leading global sports brands and other brands popular with brand consumers, including Sportmaster’s own brands.
