Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine will open 20 lessened format stores
The German retailer’s chain development will resume already next year, new outlets will open in the “satellite” format.
Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine CEO Olivier Langlet was announced about this at a meeting with journalists. The company plans to open up to 20 lessened format stores in Ukraine under the “Take-Carry” brand: square from 1,500 to 2,000 sq., according to him. Such outlets assortment will include about 3000 SKU of the most popular goods. At the moment, such format Metro stores in Ukraine are already operating in Lutsk and Ternopol. The experiment with the small facilities opening in Kremenchug and Kropyvnytskyi was considered unsuccessful and outlets were eventually closed. Investments in the “satellite” stores format opening costs from 150,000 to 300,000 euros.
At the same time, Olivier Langlet specified that plans to open 20 stores are a global task, but not a goal for 2019 year. He also added that the company does not intend to open classic Metro hypermarkets in Ukraine yet.
Recall, that now the German retailer trading chain includes in our country Metro brand 23 stores and “Take-Carry” brand 2 stores.
