Public appeal of the Retail Association of Ukraine regarding the suspension of reservations

The Retail Association of Ukraine expresses serious concern in connection with the suspension of the electronic reservation procedure for critical workers until November 15, 2024 due to the planned “audit of reserved military servicemen”.

The retail industry provides the population with essential goods and food, and any loss of key workers can negatively affect the country’s food security.

The suspension of the reservation process poses risks to the uninterrupted supply of goods and may lead to shortages of essential products. The situation with employees responsible for logistics and supply is especially critical.

We appeal to the government to:

• Urgently consider the possibility of automatic extension of current reservations for 60 days for all critical employees of companies at the time of the “audit” whose reservations expire between October 17 and November 20, 2024.
• Pay attention to possible corruption risks during the “audit” and ensure the transparency of the booking process.

We support the initiatives of other business associations and call for an immediate solution to this issue for the sake of the safety and stability of the retail industry.
