The National Children’s Specialised Hospital “Okhmatdyt” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has received modern dental and urological medical equipment as part of a charity initiative dedicated to the National Day of Austria.

With the support of the Respublika Park shopping mall, Neopolis amusement park and the Austrian Embassy, a STORZ KARL STORZENDOSKOPE paediatric cysto-urethroscope and a Dentix dental unit were purchased for young patients. This is an important step towards improvement in medical care for children in line with international standards.

About 20,000 children are treated at the Okhmatdyt Hospital every year. According to the doctors, the institution is in constant need of updating its medical equipment, as the key to successful treatment is timely and high-quality diagnostics. And the existing dental unit had become morally and physically outdated over many years of use, and the cysto-urethroscope was out of order.

The purchase of the equipment was initiated by the Austrian company Trafin, the owner of the Respublika Park shopping mall, on the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Austria, celebrated on 26 October. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Ukraine, Dr Arad Benkö, together with representatives of the Respublika Park shopping mall, handed over the equipment to Okhmadyt to improve the provision of high-quality medical care in accordance with international standards.

“We provide our assistance to Ukraine in various ways. Our Constitution limits our ability to provide military support, but we are actively helping in the humanitarian field. And of course, there are many people who need medical care. So we provide our support in this area. Thanks to our cooperation with the Respublika Park shopping mall, we have this opportunity,” — said Dr Arad Benkö, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Ukraine.

Trafin has been supporting Ukrainians since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The Austrian Aid Community (AAC), a charity organisation founded by the investor of the Respublika Park shopping mall, brings together entrepreneurs and companies from all over Austria to raise funds for humanitarian needs. Thanks to the donations collected by the AAC, about 5,000 internally displaced people in Vienna received the necessary assistance, and dozens of tonnes of humanitarian cargo with essential goods were sent to Ukraine.

“It is not the first time that our team from Respublika Park shopping mall has visited Okhmatdyt with charitable initiatives. It has already become a good tradition for us to organise children’s parties for young patients undergoing treatment at Okhmatdyt. We are confident that today’s joint initiative with the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Ukraine will help many little Ukrainians,” said Oleksiy Saviak, Managing Director of Respublika Park.

According to the representatives of Okhmadyt, the new dental unit will significantly improve the provision of high-quality medical care and reduce the fear of young patients when visiting the dentist. And a cysto-urethroscope is a vital equipment for diagnosing and treating urinary system diseases in newborn infants. This device allows for examination of boys and girls, as well as necessary medical procedures and surgical interventions.
