Consumer confidence in Ukraine, May 2017: index equaled 58
The consumer confidence of Ukrainians slightly improved in May 2017: The Consumer Confidence Index equals 58, which is 3,2 points higher than the indicator in April.
Index of Economic Expectations and Index of Expectations of Changes in Unemployment have changed most of all. It is proved by the data of The consumer confidence of Ukrainians survey conducted monthly by GfK Ukraine.
In May 2017, the Consumer Confidence Index equals 58.0 that is 3.2 points higher than the indicator in April 2017.
Index of the Current Situation increased by 1 point to the level of 51,2. The components of this index have changed as follows:
- Index of Current Personal Financial Standing equaled 47,7, which is 4,7 points higher than the indicator in April;
- Index of Propensity to Consume decreased by 2,7 points reached the indicator of 54,7.
Index of Economic Expectations increased by 4,6 points and reached 62,6 in May. The components of this index have changed as follows:
- Index of Expected Changes in Personal Financial Standing increased by 5,4 points comparing to April’s indicator and reached the level of 62,3;
- Index of Expectations of the Country’s Economic Development Over the Next Year increased by 10,8 points and equals 56,1;
- Index of Expectations of the Country’s Economic Development in the Country Over the Next 5 Years decreased by 2,3 points and reached the level of 69,2.
In May, the expectations of Ukrainians regarding the possibility of unemployment improved: Index of Expectations of Changes in Unemployment reached the level of 135,7, which is 6,7 points lower than the respective indicator in April. Meanwhile, Index of Inflationary Expectations reached 181,1, which is 2,8 points lower than in April. The expectations of Ukrainians regarding the hryvna’s exchange rate in the coming three months rather worsened: Index of Devaluation Expectations increased by 2,6 points and reached the level of 142,7.
