Consumer confidence in Ukraine, January 2017: index equaled 53,7
The consumer confidence of Ukrainians worsened in January 2017: The Consumer Confidence Index equals 53,7, which is 3,4 points lower than the last month indicator.
Index of Propensity to Consume and Index of the Current Situation have changed most of all. It is proved by the data of The Consumer Confidence of Ukrainians survey conducted monthly by GfK Ukraine.
In January 2017, the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) equaled 53,7 that is 3,4 points lower than the indicator in December 2016.
Index of the Current Situation (ICS) decreased by 5,4 points to the level of 48. The components of this index have changed as follows:
- Index of Current Personal Financial Standing equaled 40,2,- which is 3,1 points lower than in December 2016;
- Index of Propensity to Consume decreased by 7,8 points and- reached the indicator of 55,
Index of Economic Expectations decreased by 2,1 points to 57,5 in January. The components of this index have changed as follows:
- Index of Expected Changes in Personal Financial Standing – decreased by 2 points and equals 55,3;
- Index of Expectations of the Country’s Economic Development- Over the Next Year decreased by 0,1 points and reached 46,4;
- Index of Expectations of the Country’s Economic Development in- the Country Over the Next 5 Years decreased by 4,3 points comparing to December’s indicator and reached the level of 70,
In January, the expectations of Ukrainians regarding the possibility of unemployment improved: Index of Expectations of Changes in Unemployment reached the level of 141,8, which is 3,4 points lower than the respective indicator in December. Meanwhile, Index of Inflationary Expectations reached 189,6, which is 3,3 points higher than in December. The expectations of Ukrainians regarding the hryvna’s exchange rate in the coming three months deteriorated: Index of Devaluation Expectations increased by 5,2 points and reached the level of 163,7.
