Aldi will open 130 new stores in the UK
One of the largest German retailers Aldi has confirmed that over the next two years, it will open 130 new stores in England, creating 5,000 workplaces.
The news has appeared after Aldi said that in 2017 the company’s sales in the UK and Ireland grew by 16.4% and reached a record 10.2 billion pounds, — retail.ru writes. The annual profit indicator increased by 26% to 265.9 million pounds.
“Our main goal is to provide quality products at the lowest prices, create workplaces and support British agriculture and production. By 2020, Aldi will serve British buyers for thirty years. We are proud to confirm our professional commitment today”, — Aldi Executive Director Giles Hurley said.
Aldi aims to emphasize its identity and significance in Britain after the Tesco Jack’s rival discount store launch last month. New Aldi stores will contribute to the company’s movement towards the previously set goal — to open 1,000 stores in Britain by 2022.
