Personnel changes of the Year in the retail: Citrus, Metro, Lavina, Allo, TSUM Kyiv, 27.ua and others

The main changes in the Ukrainian companies’ leadership in the retail, development and related industries sphere in the past year.

MOYO

In early 2018, it became known about the appointment to the MOYO CEO post Andrey Barashenko, who had previously worked as Lamoda Director in Belarus. He replaced Dmitry Basov in this position, who headed the company for five years and left it at 2017 end.

The MOYO.ua new Head told in RAU that the company’s strategy development for the next five years, the improving financial performance, MOYO.ua clearer positioning, an increasing in consumer electronics market share, and others would be among his top-priorities in the new position. In addition, Barashenko informed that the company will continue to work on the new stores format development, and will also invest in improving the service (Customer Experience) and IT-infrastructure.

Already in early September, the company introduced the store in new concept in the metropolitan SEC Dream Town. And by the year end, it launched another facility in a new format 24-hour warehouse store with 1500 sq. m square and with an assortment of more than 25,000 SKU.

Citrus

In 2018 December, it became known that Vadim Tanchenko, who previously held the Company Operating Director position, was appointed to the gadgets and electronics stores Citrus chain CEO position. He has been running the company since August last year, and the official appointment was planned for the December end. Recall that in early August, it became known that Alexander Pogorelov left the CEO Citrus post.

Tanchenko has been working for Citrus for six years, according to the company’s PR director Julia Drobysheva. During this time, he was the Kharkov region Territorial Manager, then the Kiev region Director, after which he was appointed to the Operational Director position, and then CEO.

In addition, other personnel changes have taken place in the company. In particular, at the year end it became known that Nadezhda Fomina, Marketing Director, had left Citrus, having worked in this post for a little over four months.

Prior to that, Yury Goncharov joined the retailer team, who was appointed to the Company’s online projects development Department Director position. Recall that he replaced in this post Vyacheslav Volokh, who left Citrus in 2018 September.

Multiplex

Significant personnel changes in the past year had also take place in the Ukrainian cinema-theater market leader the Multiplex Chain. In particular, Vitaly Pisarenko was appointed the company CEO instead of Inna Yanakaeva, who since 2015 December served as Commercial Director. He was responsible for marketing and selling the company in this position. During this time, a new website and application were launched, and the annual tickets sold number increased from 4 million to 10 million. At the same time, the Multiplex share in the Ukrainian market grew from 22% to 35%.

Prior to that, the Supervisory Board composition also changed in the cinemas’ chain. So, the Supervisory Board Head post was left by Anton Pugach, who worked in the company for 15 years. The Supervisory Board members’ authority Igor Knyazev and Igor Marnenko were also terminated.

Already at the 2019 beginning, the company Co-owner, Vladimir Trofimenko, told in the column for AIN.ua that Vladislav Burda (RedHead Family Corporation) became the Supervisory Board new Head. Besides him, the new board includes well-known Ukrainian entrepreneurs and top-managers Vladislav Chechetkin (Rozetka.ua), who will be to supervise the e-commerce direction, Alexander Pochkun (Baker Tilly Ukraine) finance and audit, Maxim Bakhmatov (UNIT.City) business development and sales, Oksana Semenyuk (Changers) personnel management, and Kseniya Trofimenko (Multiplex) new chain cinemas’ construction.

MD Fashion

One of the largest players in the fashion retail Ukrainian market, developing the trade chain Tommy Hilfiger, Walker, Under Armor, Oodji, and several others, last fall again without a leader. As it became known to RAU, MD Fashion CEO Marek Macheiko left his post.

He stayed as CEO for less than a year, leading it only at 2018 beginning. Prior to this, he led the Company Noriel the largest player in the toy market in Romania, uniting about 50 stores. His portfolio also includes work in the 10/05/15 chain, Smyk, Empik and the Swedish IKEA Polish branch.

As it is noted by the MD Fashion press service, the CEO resignation is associated with strategic changes in the company. Recall that this is the leadership second change in MD Fashion over the past year and a half. Significant personnel changes occurred in the company and in 2017. In particular, then Jolanta Anna Burdun left the CEO retailer post, who led the MD Fashion from 2015 August.

Metro Cash&Carry Украина

In the 2018 middle, Olivier Langlet was appointed the Metro Ukrainian division General Director instead of Martin Schumacher. He began his career at Carrefour France as the Sales Department Head, then took the position Director of sales in Belgium. In 2011, he joined the REAL Turkey team as CEO. Since 2014, Olivier has headed the Vindemia Group, dealing with retailer at the Indian Ocean islands.

A number of other personnel changes took place in the Metro Ukrainian Division. In particular, the Commercial Director post was taken by Elena Vdovichenko, who previously held the Deputy Commercial Director position. Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine former Sales Director, Yulia Pilipenko, led the retailer Slovak business.

Lavina Mall

In 2018 the management changed several times in the largest Ukrainian SEC the capital Lavina Mall. In last year May, it was decided at the enterprise participants’ general meeting to dismiss Yuri Mikhaylenko from the SEC Director post, which he held from October 2017. At the same time, Dmitry Muntyan, the Multiplex cinema chain former Top-manager, was appointed in his place.

However, the latter worked at Lavina Mall for just a little more than three months, having left the mall in August. The Lavina Mall Director post was taken by Dmitry Lashin instead of Muntyan. Previously, he worked in the Vinnitsa City Council and the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine, was the Vinnitsa Regional Council Member from the Party of Regions, and held various leadership positions in other state-owned enterprises.

TSUM Kyiv

In 2018 autumn, the Sanahunt premium boutique ex-CEO Yevgeny Mamay was appointed the capital Central Department Store CEO. Brian Hendley, previously occupying this post, decided to return to the UK for personal reasons.

Yevgeny Mamay appointment in the TSUM team was not the only one last year. The department store continues to actively strengthen the team top- management in the past six months, an appointment has been made for the Operations Director position (Dmitry Maistrenko), as well as Financial Director (Marina Pashkur).

Brusnichka

The company Ukrainian Retail, the Rinat Akhmetov SCM group Member and developing retail chain Brusnichka, was headed last May by Sergey Belyaev. A top-manager has been working in the Brusnichka Trading chain for more than three years. Previously, he served as CFO, and in 2017 April he was appointed the Ukrainian Retail Acting Director.

Lamoda

In 2018 July, Oksana Tsvigun, who previously worked as Operation Director, became the Lamoda Ukraine General Director. Katerina Mikula, who headed Lamoda Ukraine for just over three years, left the company.

“Our task is to make Lamoda.ua Ukrainian online retail fashion-mecca with high-quality content and the most innovative developments. We are actively working to make our website as comfortable as possible for the client”, Tsvigun commented on her appointment.

Riviera

Last summer, Roman Yemets left the Odessa SEC Riviera Managing Director position. One of the largest Odessa SEC was headed by Andrey Brynzylo instead of Roman Yemets. He previously worked as the Belaya Tserkov Industrial Park (UDP group) Director, has experience in implementing and financing large commercial real estate projects, according to Retailers’ information. He was the Real Estate Finance Head in the international financial group UniCredit and in  developer company at the time of joining the UDP group.

In addition, other personnel changes took place last year at Riviera. Thus, Anna Marsova, who headed the Rental Department since 2017 June, left the SEC Rental Department Head post. She moved to the consulting company CBRE Ukraine, where she occupied the Senior Consultant position in the retail real estate Department.

Пакко Холдинг

Sergey Druzhuk was appointed Director General of one of the largest food retailers in Western Ukraine, PAKKO Holding, in 2018 August. Since 2001, he has worked in a Holding Company in senior positions:  Sales Department Head, Marketing and Commercial Director. In 2010-17, he held the First Deputy and Company Operating Activities Director posts.

As it is reported, the company’s strategic line remained unchanged with the new leadership appointment. “The Vopak and Pakko retail chains expansion through opening new stores, developing the Vopak Express franchise chain, rebranding part of the stores to the express-market format and new sales technologies’ introducing remain the company’s work priority sphere”, Sergey Druzhuk commented.

Allo

In September 2018, Valery Zolotukhin left Allo, who held the Executive Director position. He has led the company since 2006. He was one of the Allo Chain Founders in 1998, according to participants in the retail market. In 2013, the largest transaction in the household appliances and electronics market occurred under his leadership Allo (at that time 500 stores) acquired a competitor Mobilochka chain (417 outlets).

Alexander Pashchenko became the Company Head, who had previously held the Allo HR Director position instead of Valery Zolotukhin.

Dragon Capital

Natalya Kravets, Colliers International Ukraine retail real estate Department Director, joined Dragon Capital Investment Company as the Property Management Commercial subdivision Director. Natalia noted in the commentary to RAU that the Dragon Capital new division was created for more efficient management the retail, office and warehouse property located in the Dragon Capital portfolio. WOG

Sergei Koretsky resigned as the petrol stations WOG chain General Director. Top-manager explained his dismissal from the company the desire to develop his own projects. “Our team was able to do manage in five years to do something that no one expected from us from the filling stations’ chain to become a retailer. Arricano

 

At the same time, there are several appointments last year at the Arricano Development Company. So, in 2018 August, Lauri Reinberg, who previously held the Financial Control Department Head position, became Arricano’s Financial Director. He joined the Arricano team in 2017 October, and he will be responsible in the CFO position for financial strategy, accounting, planning and analysis, as well as Company taxation and budgeting.

In addition, Urmas Somelar, who was appointed Independent non-Executive Director, joined the Board of Arricano Real Estate Plc Directors. Accordingly, Philip Scales, who previously held this position, left the company.
