Infographics: 20 new brands that entered the Ukrainian market in 2018th

In 2018th, 20 new foreign brands began work in Ukraine, which is 20% less than a year earlier. At the same time, Ukrainians finally waited until the world famous H & M and Zara Home appearance in the country.

On the one hand, it can be noted that the rate of new trademarks appearance in the country has slowed. However, on the other hand, many strong international brands entered the Ukrainian market directly, opening its representative offices in the country. Popular international clothing store chains – Swedish H & M, as well as Turkish DeFacto and Koton, for three have already opened five outlets in Ukraine, are among it.

We would also recall about the withdrawal by the Spanish fashion-giant Inditex of the world famous home goods brand Zara Home, the first store of which have opened in the metropolitan SEC Gulliver.

The investments of these global companies, as well as plans for expansion into the country IKEA and Decathlon, talk about its confidence in the Ukrainian market and it are important signals for other retailers, according to Ekaterina Vesna, the JLL company (Ukraine) retail space department Head.

Trademarks from Western Europe dominate among the brands that entered the Ukrainian market last year. Italy delegated most of its representatives to Ukraine – four brands. In addition, last year three each trademarks from Germany and England, as well as two each from Sweden and Turkey debuted in the country.

It is curious, that only one brand opened the first store not in Kiev: the Japanese Usupso chose the Odessa SEC Riviera – from 20 brands that appeared in Ukraine in 2018. The rest were mainly opened in the most successful capital SEC. At the same time, SEC Gulliver and SEC Ocean Plaza, through which 14 new TM entered Ukraine – seven each in every SEC – become the leaders in the debut stores opening of foreign brands.

Without a doubt, it is worth noting the Swedish IKEA, the French Decathlon, and The North Face USA, which in our country will be represented by Interop Ukraine – from brands that are planned to enter Ukraine in 2019. In addition, in the next few years, we can expect the debut on the Ukrainian market such clothing, footwear and accessories brands as Steve Madden, The Kooples, Coin, Karl Lagerfeld, as well as the Eataly food-halls chain.
