On November 14-16, the retail and development main European exhibition — MAPIC-2018 — will be held in French Cannes. Who of the Ukrainians are planning to visit it and what results are expecting.

MAPIC is the main event for the presentation and search for the best solutions in the international real estate market. You can establish contacts and make deals at the exhibition with more than 8,600 participants from 80 countries, with more than 2,100 retail representatives, 2500+ developers, 1,000 investment companies and other major industry representatives. Three days of inspiring debates and discussions at conferences and specialized chain events about the latest trends in retail real estate are waiting retailers and developers at MAPIC-2018. Ukrainian companies began to participate in MAPIC since 2004. During this time, many significant projects for the Ukrainian market were presented at the exhibition: Ocean Plaza, Sky Mall, Respublika, Blockbuster Mall, Lavina Mall, Prospekt and many others.

This year will not be an exception. Ukrainian leading consulting companies and a profile association delegates, retailers and developers will go to the Cote d’Azur in France. We asked top- managers who are planning to visit the exhibition: what do they expect from participating in MAPIC-2018.

Anna Koryagina, the Ceetrus Ukraine (ex-Imochan Ukraine) Commercial Director:

This year, Ceetrus Ukraine will present the entire Rive Gauche and Retail Park Petrivka projects at MAPIC, because the projects’ first lines are already open. So we can share the first results with potential tenants, show photos. Of course, that has a positive effect on communication through the second project queues. Another project that we are currently working will also be shown in order to understand the feedback from international tenants and the concept possible adjustment.

Company Ceetrus all countries, including Ukraine, have been present for many years as the joint stand part at this exhibition. We set several tasks for our company: informing tenants about the situation in Ukraine as a whole, about new discoveries and brands that have entered the market.  Positive trends presence is a catalyst for the brands not yet represented in Ukraine entry. We set also tasks: informing and reaching agreements with the potential tenants’ central offices, familiarization with the latest market trends. We usually have positive results for all three criteria.

We believe, with the project portfolio expansion, that this exhibition visiting is a “must have”, not only to inform the international community about our projects. It is a “must have” also to obtain a large amount of professional information about trends in the commercial real estate development.

We will attend this exhibition for the sixth time. MAPIC, is first of all a meeting place for International Companies Owners and Top-managers. There is a great opportunity during the exhibition to talk with colleagues, meet old friends and make new useful contacts. The exhibition also shows trends, directions and technologies: where the industry is heading. We have examples when the project enlisted the investors support during the exhibition. Contracts are unlikely to be signed at the exhibition itself, but it’s realistic to discuss the proposals in detail and agree with the future partner.

We have been far from the first year presenting landmark projects for the Ukrainian market on MAPIC. This year NAI Ukraine presents two projects that will fundamentally change the Kiev retail property market: Blockbuster Mall and Ocean Mall.

And for the third year in a row, we are the only company from Ukraine that comes to the exhibition with its own stand. We managed to entry the Ukrainian market such significant projects as H & M and IKEA due to this – the country best SEC presentations. During this time, we invested almost 150,000 euros to popularize our country only for participation in MAPIC. These investments proved to be justified: our company was able to reach an agreement with the global retail market leaders and ensure its entry Ukraine, which nobody has been able to do for more than two decades.

We will present our own project at MAPIC-2018, which we will implement as developers. That is, we will not be present at the exhibition as brokers presenting foreign projects, but as developers with own SEC. I can open a little later detail about this project.

We have been traveling for seven or eight years in Cannes, where the exhibition is traditionally held. In particular, we represented key SEC, where we acted as exclusive brokers for renting space. The first project, that we presented at MAPIC, was Ocean Plaza, which has repeatedly been recognized as the best SEC in Ukraine.

Participation in such events emphasizes the status of the object. It emphasizes its scale, the owner and broker intentions severeness. This is the first important nuance. The second, no less significant, is the opportunity during the exhibition to meet with the retail companies sphere top-officials, present them Ukraine and reach some preliminary agreements. For example, it was after talking at one of the exhibitions when a well-known chain such as LC Waikiki, now numbering 30 stores all over Ukraine, began entering our country.
