Until now, Ukrainian collectors knew Carrera y Carrera as a rare guest in multi-brand showcases. However, February 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter: the opening of the country’s first official monobrand boutique at Mandarin Plaza shopping center, in the very heart of Kyiv.

This is not merely an expansion of presence, but a полноценный debut of the legendary Madrid-based House on the Ukrainian stage. In a world where luxury brands are becoming increasingly cautious, Carrera y Carrera is making a direct bet on Kyiv, bringing here not only its sculptural masterpieces but also the authentic atmosphere of Spanish luxury. For the retail market, this is a clear signal: Ukraine in 2026 is a place where High Jewelry brands seek to be represented personally, without intermediaries.

Antonio Calvo, Sales Director of Carrera y Carrera Madrid, spoke exclusively to RAUabout the opening of the monobrand boutique in Kyiv.

Market Entry Strategy

— Previously, Carrera y Carrera was represented in Ukraine through a multi-brand format. Why did the brand decide to move to direct presence now?

— Yes, previously we worked exclusively through multi-brand retailers. Today the brand is represented in more than 40 countries worldwide through partners. However, starting in 2025, we began opening our own monobrand spaces. This allows us to showcase a much wider assortment of collections, more deeply express the brand’s DNA and storytelling, and opens significantly broader opportunities for marketing and communication.

— How many years did the brand operate in Ukraine through partners, and what became the turning point for opening your own boutique?

— The multi-brand format allows us to assess the market’s potential. At the same time, only the brand itself can curate and present the assortment that we believe is most relevant for a particular country. We worked through partners in Ukraine for two years before opening our own store.

— Why did you choose Mandarin Plaza in Kyiv for your debut? What role did the location play?

— Location is crucial in retail. Mandarin Plaza has historically been the center of luxury shopping in Kyiv. It offers a prime central location, and neighboring brands such as Tiffany & Co., Bvlgari, and Balmain create a targeted client flow. An additional advantage is the presence of parking facilities and the Le Silpo supermarket, providing an extra level of convenience and service for visitors.

Positioning and Product

— How do you assess the Ukrainian luxury jewelry market today?

— The global jewelry market is going through challenging times due to the significant increase in gold prices and production costs. In Ukraine, the situation is further complicated by the war and related factors. At the same time, we believe in Ukraine’s potential and in the swift end of the war.

— How will the Kyiv boutique differ from the multi-brand representation? Will exclusive or High Jewelry collections be introduced?

— Some of our collections are available exclusively in the brand’s official boutiques and are not accessible in multi-brand stores. In addition, there are High Jewelry collections that are not displayed in all our boutiques — we rotate them between countries during special events and presentations.

— Will there be pieces or special offers adapted specifically for the Ukrainian client?

— Yes, in the near future we plan to present several pieces created exclusively for the local market.

Client and Service

— How has your client profile changed in recent years? Who are you targeting in Ukraine?

— Most of our collections have traditionally been aimed at a female audience aged 30+. However, over the past three years, we have created four new collections for a younger audience starting from 22 years old. Overall, the client profile has not changed significantly. Many of our lines have already become classics and have been selling for more than 20 years — they are timeless.

— Which elements of the brand’s Spanish philosophy will be integrated into the Kyiv space?

— Our brand conveys the culture of Spain through jewelry. All collections are inspired by Spanish architecture, history, art, and cultural heritage. All pieces are created and manufactured in the capital of Spain — Madrid.

— Are private viewings, closed events, or personalized formats for VIP clients planned?

— Yes, absolutely. We are planning events and collection presentations. Some lines will be brought to Ukraine for a limited time — specifically for presentations and sales, but not on a permanent basis.

Business Expectations and Development

— What KPIs have you set for the boutique in its first year of operation?

— It was extremely important for us to open the store during such a challenging time, build and train a team, and establish all operational processes. The main objective of the first year is to inform the Ukrainian audience about the brand’s return to Ukraine in the monobrand boutique format, introduce the new location at Mandarin Plaza, and present both new and classic collections to the widest possible audience of potential clients.

— Will Kyiv become the starting point for broader expansion in Ukraine?

— It is still too early to say. Our main focus today is on developing and strengthening the position of the Kyiv boutique.

— How do you assess the prospects of online sales in the High Jewelry segment in Ukraine?

— Globally, most luxury and High Jewelry pieces are sold offline, and Ukraine is no exception. We do not expect significant online sales. For us, the website serves more as a showcase or digital catalog that motivates clients to visit our monobrand boutique or our multi-brand partners.
